I was never quite one for the Hitman franchise. I always found agent 47’s character to be a bit bland and the gameplay to be lackluster. When Hitman 3 came out, I decided to try out the rest of the World of Assassination Trilogy before jumping onto the final game, starting with 2016’s Hitman, developed by IO Interactive.  Read the full article here…

Rolling out as the 23rd film in Pixar’s line-up, Soul turned out to be an unexpectedly compelling and just plain fun experience. I had little hope or interest upon first hearing about it back in its “in development” phase, but Soul may have just earned its place as another of the studio’s heavy hitters.  Read the full article here…

While I respect 3D animation in video games, the inclusion in anime felt aesthetically wrong. Then came a show called Dorohedoro, the wacky anime adaptation of Q Hayashida’s work, where the dark whimsical setting fits the animation style like a glove. Due to the bad reputation that CGI anime has garnered, potential viewers could feel sceptical about this show.  Read the full article here…

Eight years following the nerve-wracking thriller “Captain Phillips”, veteran actor Tom Hanks and writer/director Paul Greengrass team up once again, this time allowing themselves to breathe, thanks to the more sombre and lethargic nature of their latest work: News of the World.  Read the full article here…

Excluding the Final Fantasy series, few franchises sparked my interest. I admit, I have not played any Persona games (also known as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona) before this one. That said, since I got the chance to jump into the cognitive palaces of 2020’s Persona 5 Royal, I have never wanted to leave.  Read the full article here…

I have gone through countless horrible films this year, and surprisingly enough, none of them felt like a chore to watch. Then came Netlix’s AVA, a 2020 film so dull and contrived that it almost managed to bore me to sleep within the first half-hour. Ten minutes more than 2001: A Space Odyssey.   Read the full article here…

Some video games have funding that can rival the combined monthly income of an entire country’s population. Then there are those games developed with a more modest budget that spring out of nowhere and still manage to deliver a pleasant surprise.  Read the full article here…

So, 2020 has been a rough year for many people from the looks of it. While the film industry has taken quite a beating this year, at least most of the films that I have seen seem to have made an effort to be good. However, there is one hot mess that firmly places itself at the pinnacle of my 2020 movie garbage list, and that is Andrew Lawrence’s attempt at an action movie, Money Plane.  Read the full article here…

With its sequel coming up this year and a new port now available on PC, I thought it would be best to review Metal Gear hunter simulator, i.e. Horizon Zero Dawn. Horizon Zero Dawn, developed by Guerrilla Games, started out in 2017 as a PS4 exclusive but has now made its way to Steam in the form of a full package release. For this review, I will be using the PS4 version.  Read the full article here…
